“Broad Student Senate – where vision meets action and possibilities become realities”. Over the past 20 years, Broad Student Senate has served as a fundamental pillar of the Broad community, continuously spearheading events that unify and empower student voices. Since its founding in 2004, Broad Student Senate has pioneered the development of several annual initiatives, including the Broad Business Gala, the Broad Mentorship Program (BMP), the Road to Broad 5K, and more. The well-established student organization has also dedicated itself to providing valuable opportunities such as free LinkedIn photoshoots, monthly heritage celebrations, corporate networking events, and more. To officially commemorate its 20-year anniversary, Broad Student Senate will be adapting its logo to reflect the tremendous growth that the organization has accomplished throughout its history.

A Legacy of Leadership
What began as a simple effort to “promote seamless collaboration” between undergraduate students, faculty, and administration, quickly evolved into an organization that spans multiple committees and various branches of leadership. In 2010, Broad Student Senate founded the Broad Store, a retail sub-organization that offers exclusive Broad College of Business apparel and other merchandise items. Soon after, the College Capital Committee (CCC) was formed to distribute funding to all Broad Registered Student Organizations (BRSOs), supporting the larger community. Additionally, in 2021, Broad Student Senate was recognized as one of the top Michigan State University organizations by earning the award for Student Organization Achievement.
Looking Ahead
As Broad Student Senate enters its third decade, “we are committed to strengthening the relationships between other BRSOs to achieve our goal of a unified Broad community”, said Niya Patel, President of Broad Student Senate. “The collective success that we have achieved thus far is a testament to our steadfast nature and overarching core values of integrity, unity, and empowerment”.
